Frequently Asked Questions

How Safe is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is extremely safe. It is an all-natural, drug-free therapy. There is little danger of infection from acupuncture needles because they are sterile, used once, and then discarded.

What types of schooling do acupuncturists get?

Acupuncturists receive 3 to 4 years of extensive and comprehensive graduate training at nationally certified schools. All acupuncturists must pass a national exam and meet strict guidelines to practice in every state.

Do the needles hurt?

Most people feel no pain at all, but some people feel a little pain as the needles are inserted. The needles are tiny, just a little larger than a cat's whisker or a human hair.

How deep do the needles go?

Typically, needles are inserted at depths ranging from 1/8" to 1 1/2" inches. Although the depth of insertion varies.

Does insurance cover acupuncture?

There are many plans that cover acupuncture. Please check with your insurance company to see about treatment coverage.

What if I don't have insurance?

We do accept cash and payment is due at the time of service. There are many patients who have no acupuncture insurance who come to treatment regularly. They view this as an investment in their health and their future.

How many treatments will I need?

This is always unique to the individual. Generally, the longer a condition has been experienced, more treatments will be necessary to see improvement. Sometimes initial symptoms can be relieved more quickly than expected, and other times relief may take longer. You will be given a thorough treatment plan based on the best judgment of the practitioner.
