How Our Weight Loss Program Works

How Our Weight Loss Program Works

You’ve tried, time and again, to lose the extra pounds you’re carrying, but you have nothing to show for your efforts. You aren’t alone. Two-thirds of adults in the United States are either overweight or obese, placing them at risk for serious health issues.

Since the definition of insanity is trying the same thing over and over and expecting different results, the team here at Family Wellness Center wants to highlight a different approach to weight lossacupuncture.

In the following, we explore how this ancient technique can help you lose weight from a number of different angles, allowing you to reach, and stay at, your ideal weight.

The link between acupuncture and weight loss

The connection between weight loss and acupuncture is both direct and indirect. First, the practice of acupuncture, namely auricular acupuncture (in your ears), has been shown to help control food cravings and reduce your appetite.

As an example, one study among 20 obese women who were on a 2,000-calorie-a-day diet (along with 15 minutes of exercise) found that those who received ear acupuncture lost an average of 10 pounds while those who didn’t receive the acupuncture lost only three.

Called neuroendocrine management, acupuncture helps to control the hormones associated with hunger and cravings.

Indirectly, acupuncture can tackle other areas of your health to facilitate weight loss. For example, acupuncture is an excellent technique for managing stress and anxiety, both of which play no small roles in how we eat (think emotional eating).

As well, acupuncture can also support better gastrointestinal function, which can help you better process the foods you eat.

Acupuncture can help address all areas of your health and wellness, which positions you for successful weight loss.

Beyond acupuncture

Though acupuncture lies at the heart of our weight loss programs, we also help you lose weight through other means, including:

Our goal is to tackle your weight loss from every angle and to provide you with the resources, products, and services you need to lose weight and keep it off.

We do want to emphasize that you need to do your part. Although our programs provide you with important and effective aids, you still need to do your part through diet and exercise. Rest assured, we’re with you every step of the way as we’re invested in your success.
